"These tears I've cried
I've cried a thousand oceans
and if it seems
I'm floating in the darkness,
well,
I can't believe
that I would keep,
keep you from flying
and I would cry a thousand more
if that's what it takes
to sail you home."

Tori Amos, from '1000 Oceans'

This was originally going to be called 'Where do all the Tears go', as that phrase kept going round in my head for some reason, but as I was finishing this painting the song A Thousand Oceans started playing in my mind and it gave me the shivers when I realised just how much it seemed to fit the 'stuff' I was exploring. So, thank you Tori, and hope you don't mind :)

I owe a huge amount of gratitude to the beautiful Jessica :iconfaestock: who made the most beautiful stock photo that leapt out at me months ago - I just knew that was the one I needed for this painting! I have never used stock before, but when I saw her work how could I not! I think there may be more to come too! So, thank you so much

Such a beautiful painting with all this blue. Great details on the folds of the clothing and the abstract background looks amazing.

The pose seems perfect for the emotional state you sought to capture, I like how she is turned away and protective at the same time. Beautifully done.
