Artist's Comments

This is a commissioned piece, way overdue! Started about a year ago! Luckily it's for a family member!
Working my way through the backlog and getting excited about new work....

Oil and acrylic on canvas, 80cm x 60cm (I think)

Lots of thank yous for this one,
To Marcus (mjranum) for fabulous athena stock! :iconmjranum-stock:
and to Amber G for being so great infront of the camera

Thank you to Andy for inspiring me with his owl photography [link]

and to Kev Lewis :iconkevlewis: for letting me use his Swan photography as reference.

(sounds like an Oscar acceptance speech!)

Sorry it took so long! (the painting not the thank yous)

Nicely composed, and I love the effect of the swan's wings over the figure.

Oh you genius of all things transparent! The swan looks fantastic. How oh how do you do it? Was the swan acrylic on an oil base? (I don't know anything about acrylic or oil paints really, but that's the only thing I could think of.) And I love the earthy imagery you often incorporate into your paintings. I guess you have lots of inspiration for that, living as you do in a wood =P

Can I just say again how much I am in awe of the way you paint skin tones? Those deftly applied hints of blue and purple add so much realism and depth.

You rock! =)
